InsideOut

These 8 girls make up a church small group, the two in the back are the leaders.

Let’s start with how drop dread gorgeous they all are.

What are the odds that when the youth of their church (which is enormous, ENORMOUS, by the way) were broken up into small groups that the eight most beautiful were placed together.

And here’s the real kicker.

AEM_3186-3

As visually stunning as they all are on the outside, which is very nice thing to be of course…

AEM_3241

They were all five times as beautiful in personality, which is more important.

AEM_3201

Sweet, kind, hilarious. They were all supportive of each other and did their level best to keep each other laughing.

AEM_3444

It was rough going trying to get serious shots in-between all the hilarity.

AEM_3459

Which is the best problem in the world for a photographer.

AEM_3512-2

Because it meant that their eyes were still laughing while they were posing with introspective faces.

Except this cutie. She said serious don’t work for her. And I said, if you are already perfect, why mess with it? She had me rolling with giggles. ROLLING. I was still laughing at her awesomeness when I was editing two days later.

Their leaders were pretty spectacular too (the one on the left is my Alpha Gam sister!). Although I didn’t get more than 3 minutes with them, they were gracious and sort of melted into the background so the small group girls could take the spotlight.

Here’s what I liked the most about this shoot. Sure, they were all perfect subjects and sure, they were all knock you off your feet beautiful and sure, they all have glowing personalities. But I liked that no one took themselves too seriously. They were prepaid to have a silly good time while capturing Teen Vogue worthy photos. The whole afternoon could not have been more fun. Warmer, yes. But not more fun. Impossible.

Blogaversary!

Well. I missed it. I wasn’t pay attention at all and I missed my two year blogaversary.

Last year,  I gave away gift cards.

Two years ago, Maintaining Sanity started out on iWeb and had 5 unique visitors a day. This year, I’m coding in wordpress and we average 900 unique visitors a month. Which kinda blows my mind. Now, I’m sure a lot of that is robots trolling. So I’ll try and keep my calm.

Two years ago, I had a point and shoot camera and had no idea what ISO and aperture were.  This year, I rock an FX dSLR body with an arsenal of lenses. And I not only know what ISO and aperture are, but I know how to apply them. I understand light and can manipulate it. My work has been published, my photos have been in print media in Australia and the US.  Which kinda blows my mind.

Two years. My desk has been in four different places around the house. And I’m still not happy with the placement. Ever changing. Ever rearranging.  Never satisfied with a furniture layout.

Two years ago it was all a kind of hobby. Something to help me be creative. This year, it’s a life goal.

Which kinda blows my mind.

And now, pictures.

In two short years.

Which kinda blows my mind.
