Baseball Season is Here.

Bert has just done a happy dance.

Fantasy Baseball season has officially opened. Yahoo! says so.

Bert has been on the phone with his buddies scheduling drafts.

Pitchers and catchers don’t even report until the 19th.

But the open of Fantasy Baseball means the start of Baseball Season.

Also, Greedo did not shoot first. Whatever nonsense Lucas likes to spew now.  Han shot first. It’s essential to his character development as a tough, no nonsense, gritty space smuggler. Just remember that. He was a space smuggler who was found in a dive bar where a dead/murdered alien meant only having to tip the barkeep a little extra. Yes, he shot first.

When my new job functions get under control, posts will become more about the photo story and less about the random thoughts that just happened here. I predict that this pattern will last another week or so and we will be back to regularly scheduled programming. Until then, be ready for some short, spastic posts. It will be just like you are in my head! Ice cream for everyone!

When the heat broke.

When the heat broke (bad lignite switch) we put out lots of blankets and quilts for the cats to snuggle in.

They like them so much we have left them out. This also helps to keep the car fur on everything problem a little at bay. Now we just wash the blankets instead of rolling brushing the furniture.

What’s that?

AEM_1599.jpg

Just Remus. Coming in for a snooze.

AEM_1607.jpg

Sometimes they are full of sweetness and light.

AEM_1610.jpg

Look at all that kitty love.

AEM_1614.jpg

WHOA.

AEM_1621.jpg

No, no. It was just a yawn as he was prepping to to return the favor.

AEM_1624.jpg

See? Everyone is still happy.

AEM_1630.jpg

Including Bert.

Cleaning Out

Bert and I did a little house maintenance this weekend. He cleaned out some of his old clothes that no longer fit.  Those are his ribs you see under that sweater. Bert is a skinny minnie now.

AEM_1501.jpg

And Remus napped on the pile of clean clothes.

AEM_1522.jpg

I cleaned out the hall closest and stored the cleaning supplies under the sink and the all the entertaining dishes in the closet. They hadn’t been put away from the book club meeting we had at the house… 3 weeks ago… don’t judge me. I’ve been busy! I’ve been sick! I’ve been lazy!

AEM_1509.jpg

And Remus napped on the clean clothes.

AEM_1537.jpg

I cleaned out and reorganized the pantry.

AEM_1511.jpg

And Remus napped in his bed on my desk.

AEM_1539.jpg

I cleaned out the fridge and made Tuna fish.

AEM_1514.jpg

And Romulus sulked on scrap foam because he wasn’t allowed to have any of the tuna.

This is what our combined efforts produced by Sunday afternoon.

A mountain of trash that is still residing right behind the front door. The trash pickup doesn’t come until Tuesday and we have dumpster divers in our stellar neighborhood. I put nothing out until the last possible second.

Part of me wants to cover everything in the trash with used kitty litter. The other part of me knows that’s just as wrong as going through someone else’s garbage that is still sitting on their own property.

For a while there were were taking everything but the kitchen garbage to a nearby trash compactor. But after a week or two of daily harassing phone calls to the city, they started stepping up patrols on my street for collection days and the pickers disappeared.

Still. I’m not taking any chances.

How did this delightful post about Bert being skinny and Remus napping turn into a garbage pickers rant? I blame the weather. The high is 78 today and there are thunderstorms. In January. Where’s my snow storm? Where’s my toasted marshmallows on crackers with peanut butter? Where’s winter for crying out loud?
